Recent Robberies in Our Area

RECENT ROBBERIES IN OUR AREA

Just a brief note to advise that a series of three armed robberies were reported on the night of Thursday, June 20th in our area. One happened in Candler Park on McLendon. One occurred on Caroline Street by the Edgewood Retail District, and the third in Inman Park on Euclid near Hurt Street. The police report that the perpetrators were three black males driving a “green or brown box type SUV.” Two of the males were armed with handguns. While we hope that this is a one-off incident, please be super careful and aware of your surroundings, especially at night. Watch out for slow moving vehicles. Lastly, if anyone in the area around Euclid/Hurt has video feed that might have captured some of this, please contact either Inman Park Security or Atlanta police.

Woman Robbed at Gunpoint

Last Wednesday, Oct 25, around 8:30-9pm, a woman was robbed at gunpoint near the corner of Elizabeth St and Euclid Ave.  After getting a ride to her car and while opening her car door, a black sedan pulled up beside and slightly behind her.  The victim reported that she felt a tug on her purse and turned to see a black male pointing a black pistol at her.  He said nothing and then grabbed her bag and got into the sedan, which made a U-turn and headed east on Euclid Ave.
APD officers and a robbery Investigator responded to the scene.

The suspect with the gun was described as male, light-skinned, 5’9 or 5’10, in his twenties wearing a fur hat and black clothing.

This information was provided by Sgt Tom Soukup who is part of the APD Critical Incident Training Unit and the Supervisor of our Inman Park Security Patrol.

If I find out any additional information, I will post as I am able.  If anyone in that area has cameras that show that end of Elizabeth, please check the video from last Wednesday and contact APD if you have something that could be helpful.

Please be careful out there.

Little 5 Points Mini-Precinct

Little 5 Points Mini-Precinct

The Atlanta Police Mini-Precinct in Little 5 Points is now in it's 19th year, and continues to be a cornerstone in our community’s approach to reduce crime.

The Mini-Precinct Satellite Police Station project, is a public/private partnership between the City of Atlanta and community.

The officers, equipment, supplies, computers, electronic and video communication gear, etc., are funded by the Police Department. The community provided the funds to renovate the space and continues to pay for rent, repairs, utilities and other operating costs. That funding has come from L5P Business Association and its members; Neighborhood Organizations; and contributions from individual households in the area. Thus, this yearly appeal for individual donations.

Since it opened, the increased presence and visibility of Atlanta Police Officers that the Mini-Precinct brings to our community, has made a significant difference in the conduct of those hanging out in L5P and the surrounding community.
