IPNA September Meeting Summary

 

IPSP

-Officer House urged residents to watch their phones while walking.

-Don’t leave your laptop in the car.

-We are adding one dayside shift to the IPSP.

 

Announcements

-Wine Stroll need volunteers to work 2 hr shifts.

-IP Festival needs charis for rentals and signs. Next meeting is Oct 16th.

-Porch Party on Sept 29th at 7:30p.

 

Elected Officials

Deputy District Atty was at the meeting to announce the hiring of 3 new prosecutors. He announced a new heroine task force that will carry narcon. There will be a lunch and learn on Oct 15th on the 7th floor of the courthouse. Lunch will be provided. They’ll discuss shoot spotters, a new technology to help pinpoint gunshots.

 

Festival

Cooper and Robbie White Pierce were voted in as Festival Chairs for the next two years.

 

Little Five Points, Findley Plaza, Redesign

Walter Brown with the CID discussed the two charrettes held to discuss the redesign. Desired features are: bike parking, rideshare pickup, Marta busses, outside dining and a cultural space.

 

Brown said they are pricing improvements and that they’ll start raising private funds in Nov and hopefully will start on the project late summer of 2018. There will be an Advocator article on this next month.

 

Mayoral Candidate

Peter Aman joined the meeting to speak about his campaign for Mayor. He said the next election is crucial as the elected Mayor will have 14Billion dollars to spend on transportation infrastructure and oversee the rezoning on the city. His 4 top priorities are: Public Safety, Mobility, Education and Economic Development.

 

Peter Aman will be joining the Inman Park Mayoral Candidate Forum on October 4th at 7:30pm. Please come and see what he and the other candidates have to say.

 

Vila de Grip Update

 They are doing a traffic study and should have the results back next week. They plan to hold a neighborhood wide meeting to discuss the traffic study and development.

 

Inman Park has retained the services of zoning consultant, Nina Gentry, to help navigate this process.

 

Jenkins Metal

The proposal for the site is on inmanpark.org. They will hold a neighborhood meeting on September 27 to further discuss their plans. They have proposed condo units.

 

IPNA President

Philip Coven has been named Inman Park’s rep to the Freedom Park Conservancy. He will update the neighborhood on their master plan.

 

VP of Zoning had to resign due to work schedule conflicts. Jonathan Miller has agreed to step in. There will be a vote at next month’s meeting to approve this position.

 

VP Communications

 

Inman Park Mayoral Candidate Forum on October 4th at 7:30pm at the Trolley Barn.

 

Inman Park District 2 Candidate Forum on October 12 at 7:30pm at the Trolley Barn.

 

Halloween Walk on October 28th from 2:30-4:30p. Starts at Poplar Circle with face painting and free King of Pops. Then kids and Halloween lovers will walk from Poplar Circle to Springvale Park. Line the route to cheer them on or join in the fun! Sponsored by Lifelong Inman Park.

 

Holiday Party on December 8th at the Trolley Barn. Full buffet dinner, open bar and band.  Gluten-free and vegetarian dishes will be available.
