Why we do what we do

Inman Park is a neighborhood of tree-lined streets, shaded yards, and leafy parks. Residents have worked steadily for decades to keep Inman Park green. Today, as Atlanta experiences a boom in population and a frenzy of infill development, the need to plant and protect trees in Inman Park is greater than ever.

Tree Watch is a committee of Inman Park residents who are working to protect and replenish the neighborhood's dense tree canopy. The committee's work encompasses a number of different activities:

• Planting new trees in yards, sidewalk planting strips, and parks.
• Maintaining newly planted trees by mulching, pruning, and watering them, especially in the first year.
• Contracting with a tree specialist to prune and monitor larger street trees.
• Raising awareness among neighbors about the value of trees and educating them about tree species and proper care.
• Working with local government to protect and care for trees.
• Raising funds to support these activities, notably through the immensely popular Inman Park Tree Huggers Ball.
