Homeowner: Lori and Danny Feig-Sandoval
This 1910 Craftsman-style home has doubled in size since Danny bought the one-bedroom bungalow in 1977. The result of five phases of renovation (with help from Danny's remodeling firm, Small Carpenters at Large) is an open plan infused with light and brimming with details that reflect the craftsman's eye.

Phase One saw Danny stripping and sanding woodwork and heart pine floors, installing the tile and wood stove for heat, and building shelves in the library. Phase Two - central heat, new kitchen, addition of a breakfast / family room, two bathrooms, and reconstruction of the roof and framing for a second floor - - was done in about 40 weekends, ending a week before Lori and Danny's 1987 wedding in the dining room. Phase Three began in 1990 when they finished the upstairs: three bedrooms, a bathroom, attic storage, and a rear balcony.
In Phase Four the couple finished the back deck with screened porch, the front garden, the brick basket-weave sidewalk and the granite wall topped with tile accent pieces left from the interior work. When their son Cory was born in 1994, they were very glad their house was "finished."
Phase Five, however, began when they installed a whole house fan and central air- conditioning, and continued with the re-building of the fireboxes for the four original fireplaces. Danny and (then) five-year-old Cory retiled the hearths and surrounds and rebuilt the front porch. The floors were refinished, and the interior and exterior were re-painted. Most recently, they transformed the upstairs back bedroom into a space for art projects and Cory's home education program.
Together Lori and Danny have spent years creating their part of Historic Inman Park, so take your time to enjoy the details.
