The Greenway Trail System 
The East-West stretch of the Atlanta-Dekalb Greenway Trail System,
through Feedom Park (see map), became an instant hit.
Even before the construction barricades were removed, cyclists, joggers, roller
bladers and stollers swarmed over the switchbacks and straight-a-ways. This
accomplishment of the PATH Foundation is part of
a extensive system of designated streets and off-road trails - including the
Silver Comet, a stretch of paved, off-road trail which will connect
Atlanta and Birmingham, AL.
Freedom Park is undergoing its next phase with the addition of the North - South trail section through the park. The Freedom Park Conservancy and PATH are working together to build the additional trail segment which will begin at Ponce de Leon and end at the Inman Park MARTA station. This trail will enable trail users to take advantage of the MARTA system while touring Atlanta's newest major park.
