| Description: | The Inman Park Dance Festival is a two-day festival of classical and contemporary dance presented as part of the Inman Park Festival and Tour of Homes, which takes place the last weekend in April. Good Moves and the Inman Park Neighborhood Association present the Inman Park Dance Festival in partnership. The dance festival is designed for a broad, family-oriented audience. The event is free and open to the public, providing performances on April 29 and April 30, 2006. The 2006 festival will present four Atlanta area dance companies. The Inman Park Dance Festival has two outstanding characteristics: it is the only events providing professional quality, free dance performances of concert dance in the State of Geogia and it is a partnership between an arts non-profit and a community non-profit. This dance festival has the fortunate position to serve a large audience and to expose many of its audience members to dance for the first time. |
| Curation: | Selection of performing companies is by adjudication and presenter invitation. Selection criteria include quality of work, professionalism, community commitment, and appropriateness to family-oriented programming. The presenting company will also perform. |
| Performing Companies: | Ballethnic (classically trained, culturally diverse performing company), Full Radius Dance (physically integrated modern dance), Good Moves (pre-professional repertory ensemble), and Zoetic Dance Ensemble (athletic contemporary dance). |
| Audience: | The Inman Park Dance Festival serves a broad and diverse audience as part of the Inman Park Festival and Tour of Homes. The Inman Park Festival and Tour of Homes is a major Spring event in the Atlanta area, with over 40,000 people attending the various festival activities, artist booths, and music events. This will be the sixth year that dance performances will serve as an important part of the overall arts programming of the Inman Park Festival and Tour of Homes. The Inman Park Dance Festival is available to all festival goers. In 2005, over 1,200 individual experienced the dance festival first hand. |
| Support: | The Inman Park Festival and Tour of Homes and Good Moves provide significant in-kind and direct support for the dance festival. Additional support is being provided by individuals and corporations in the community. Marketing and branding opportunities are available. |
